Martha’s Orange-Vanilla Bean Cupcake

I’m continuing with Martha because I had one orange left on the counter and this recipe is found on the previous page from yesterday’s recipe.  Easy peasy.

Orange-Vanilla Bean Cupcakes from Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes cookbook

With the vanilla, orange zest and freshly squeezed orange juice, this batter smells divine.  I am a little concerned this batter may be a little thick.  Not a good sign for Martha’s recipes.

The cupcake is a pretty little thing with vanilla beans and orange zest dotting the top.

The fruity aroma coming from the cupcake is delightful.  Unfortunately, the cupcake is doughy in texture.  It looks like MS Recipe Creation Team Denser strikes again.  Can you guess where the cupcakes went?

Bummer!  I was so looking forward to this flavor combination.  Maybe a rework of the recipe could produce a lighter, moister cupcake.  Hmm… maybe one day.

It is so interesting to me how one Martha recipe is great and then you stumble upon one that is way off. To bad, sounded like a good cupcake.
